Welcome to the North East Land, Sea and Air Museums.
Situated next to the Nissan Factory on the site of the former RAF Usworth, Nelsam is quickly becoming one of the most diverse collections of twentieth century transport in the North East. There are a large number of complete aircraft, aircraft engines, military vehicles, fire engines, trams and other forms of transport on display. There are quizzes and challenges for children and a dressing up zone is opening in 2015. Step back in time and visit the 1940s wartime street.
Our vision…. is to create a high quality museum and visitor attraction for the North East of England that will interpret the museums collection and social history archive in an enjoyable and engaging manner.
Our mission…. is to increase knowledge and understanding of industrial and scientific developments in aviation in the twentieth century as well as telling the story of conflicts through the experiences and achievements of the service personnel and civilians in the North East of England during that period.
