The Newport Medieval Ship is a unique artefact. Found just 15 years ago on the muddy banks of the River Usk, in South Wales, this mighty vessel was built before the great explorers Columbus, Cabot and Vasco da Gama were born, and some 60 years before Henry VIII’s magnificent Mary Rose. As a trading ship, she reveals stories of the places she visited, the cargoes she carried and the life and times of southern Europe.
Come and hear these stories, and see the timbers that when reconstructed in the coming years will bring this project to life.
Entry to the Medieval Ship Centre is free, but donations to the Friends of Newport Ship are always welcomed.
