The East Somerset Railway is a volunteer run, heritage steam railway nestling in the scenic Mendip countryside. As well as a nostalgic steam train ride there are lots of other things to see and do. The engine shed is open to the public so you can get close to the engines and chat to the staff who are happy to talk about the work they do to preserve an important part of our heritage.
At Cranmore station there is a café, a gift shop and a small museum and on some days a miniature railway operates and the signal box is open for viewing. The East Somerset Railway runs dining services regularly throughout the season offering Sunday Lunches, Cream Teas and a special High Tea complete with a glass of Prosecco. These services are very popular and get booked up well in advance so buy your tickets early through the website.
