Buckingham Old Gaol Museum

Buckingham Old Gaol was one of the first purpose-built town gaols, and now houses the town Museum, its gift shop, and the Tourist Information Centre.

The Museum contains 12 display areas tracing the history of this historic market town and its rural surroundings. It also houses the Flora Thompson (Lark Rise to Candleford) Collection, including some costumes and props from the highly-acclaimed BBC television series; and many artefacts from Buckinghamshire Military Museum Trust. The prisoners’ Exercise Yard now has a glazed roof, enabling it to hold occasional additional exhibitions as well as being used for talks and lectures. It is also available for private and corporate hire for parties, meetings etc.
