Elsecar Heritage Railway

Elsecar Heritage Railway is located at the rear of Elsecar Heritage Centre. The Railway currently operates a passenger service that runs between Elsecar, through some extremely historic and scenic countryside alongside the Dearne and Dove Canal, to the present terminus next to the canal basin at Hemingfield.

The Sunday passenger service trains, which are open to the general public, are hauled by Heritage Steam and Diesel locomotives, operated and restored entirely by volunteers. The railways depot is home to a selection of steam and diesel locomotives.

The service runs on Sundays throughout the year. They also operate special day events and weekends throughout the year. The 25 minute, 3 mile journey, is on one mile of track.

Please check the events page for further information or contact the Railway directly on 01226 746746 to confirm running days, times and type of service. Max Card discount is only offered on Green timetable days.
