Little Hall Lavenham

Behind the medieval timber frame, the house has been a home for clothiers, farm labourers, factory workers, retired soldiers and art students. It reflects the up-and-downs of Lavenham’s history from the height of its wealth under the Tudors through to today when it is one of only three historic sites in the town open to the public. Looking out onto a beautiful, peaceful garden, the rooms are small and full of the quirky and varied collection of the Gayer-Anderson twins who restored the house in the 1930s, leaving it fully-furnished and equipped to become a hostel for art students until it was opened to the public in 1978. Friendly guides tell you a little about the house and then you are free to wander around house and garden at your leisure.
